Germany prepares to veto aid to Greece

Germany will block any further funding for Greece if Athens failed in its stated aims of its creditors.

 

This will happen even if other countries support additional assistance for the country, says British “Telegraph”.

 

Vice-President of the conservative parliamentary bloc of Chancellor Angela Merkel – Michael Fuchs told daily Handelsblatt, that Berlin is prepared to veto if it reached from Greece results are not satisfactory.

 

Even the “glass is half full, it will be enough for another bailout,” said Fuchs. Germany can not and will not accept such a compromise, he said.

 

The biggest economy in Europe awaiting the report on Greece, which is prepared by Troika. It will probably be ready in mid-September and will be decisive for whether Athens will receive further assistance amounting to 31.5 billion from the rescue fund.

 

According to Fuchs, even other euro area countries decide that aid to Greece should be continued, Germany would use its veto if it considers that Greece has failed to fulfill commitments.
